Community Hub
We've signed the lease, we've got the keys and plans are progressing well to revitalise the old shop and courtyard at 45a Leicester Road, Barnet EN5 5EW into our community hub and plant hospital where we nurse donated plants back to life. This vision couldn't be recognised without the fantastic support of our lovely architect Amadeo from What-if and our fabulous builders R Bensons.
Over the Bank Holiday weekend at the beginning of May we opened our doors for the first time and it was wonderful to meet our neighbours and introduce everyone to The Flower Bank. We're next open on Sunday 26 and Monday 27 May between 1 and 4 for the sale of plants and flowers. Please pop in and say hello.
The Flower Bank hub is a zero waste pay as you feel community florist. We plan to run a number of seasonal workshops, children's activities during school holidays and provide training for young offenders. We're currently stocking herbs and hanging baskets that the young offenders have grown and created at our garden on the Tiverton Estate, N15.
There will be plenty of volunteering opportunities from collecting the flowers from supermarkets to tending to plants, In fact I've already received a kind offer from somebody to water the plants in the height of summer which was very thoughtful.
We're really excited about this next step and can't wait to serve you all.
